Railings for Meath rural properties
Rural railing runs are longer, more exposed and less forgiving than a suburban front boundary. Ground moves, livestock lean and nobody is going to repaint two hundred metres of steel every few years.
Estate style railings
The traditional estate railing, with slim round bars through drilled horizontal rails, suits Meath's older properties and long entrance avenues. It reads as light from a distance while being surprisingly robust, and it copes better with uneven ground than a panel system because it can follow a fall.
For long runs we set out post centres on site, because getting the rhythm right across a curve or a slope is what makes the finished line look correct.
Ground that moves
On rural sites the foundation matters more than the steel. Posts set in undersized concrete on soft ground will lean within a couple of winters. We specify post depths and pad sizes to suit what is actually there, which sometimes means a deeper dig than the customer expected.
Where livestock have access, posts need to be closer and the bottom rail higher off the ground so it does not become a lever.
Galvanising and coating
Everything outdoors is hot dip galvanised. On agricultural properties, where washdown, slurry and constant damp are part of life, galvanising is the only finish that lasts. A powder coat over it is purely for appearance and works well on entrance and garden railings.
Bare painted steel on a Meath boundary will be rusting at the welds inside three years, and repainting a long run is expensive labour.
Working with entrance gates
Most rural jobs combine railings with an entrance gate, and the two should be designed together so bar spacing and top rail heights line up. We fabricate both in the same workshop and deliver them as one order.
