Steel fabrication in Wicklow
Wicklow work tends to look different to the rest of what leaves the workshop. A lot of it is one off houses and renovations on sloping, exposed sites, where the steel is as much a visible part of the finished house as it is structure.
Balconies, balustrades and hillside sites
Houses built into a slope from Enniskerry down through Greystones and Wicklow town often want the view held onto, which means cantilever balconies, glass balustrades and external steps rather than solid walls. Those details carry real load and real exposure, so the connections are designed properly and everything outdoors is galvanised before any coating goes on.
Inside the same houses we fabricate feature staircases and stair core balustrades, usually in matte black steel with timber or glass, measured on site once the floor levels are final.
Coastal and exposed conditions
Along the Wicklow coast salt air is the thing that shortens the life of poorly finished metalwork. For anything within reach of the sea we specify hot dip galvanising, with powder coat over it where a colour is wanted, or stainless where the look calls for it. It costs a little more at the start and saves the job being redone.
Structural steel for extensions in the county follows the same route as everywhere else: fabricated in Dublin 22 to the engineer's drawing, delivered marked up and ready to sit, with the EN 1090 paperwork building control expects.
