Steel fabrication for south Dublin homes

South Dublin is our home patch. The workshop is on the Naas Road, and a large share of what we make goes to houses in Rathfarnham, Terenure, Churchtown, Dundrum, Rathgar and out towards Dún Laoghaire.

Extension steel in older housing

Much of south Dublin's housing stock is inter war and post war, with solid or early cavity walls and rooms that were never intended to be opened up. Removing a rear wall or knocking two reception rooms together means beams, and usually padstones built into walls whose construction is not obvious until they are opened.

It is worth allowing for the possibility that the engineer revises the design once the wall is exposed. We are close enough to turn around a revised beam quickly when that happens.

Feature stairs and balustrades

Renovation work across Rathgar, Ranelagh and Dundrum generates a steady stream of feature staircases: steel spine or cranked stringers with oak treads, and glass or slim bar balustrades. These are measured on site, fabricated in Dublin 22 and powder coated to match the interior scheme.

Period houses also bring the reverse job, replicating original ironwork on returns and front gardens.

Access in a built up area

Delivering a six metre beam into a mid terrace off a narrow road is its own problem. We check the delivery route and the carrying route to the back of the house before fabrication, and where necessary the engineer can design a spliced beam that can be carried through in sections.

Parking restrictions and permit requirements are worth checking with the council before booking the lift.

Local and quick

Being local means site visits are easy, revised items are turned around fast and delivery slots are flexible. For a busy renovation that is often worth more than a small price difference.

Send drawings or photographs and we will quote within a working day.
