Bespoke metal fabrication: from sketch to finished piece

Alongside structural work we make a steady stream of one off pieces: planters, screens, canopies, frames, signage, furniture bases and things nobody has a name for. The process is the same whatever the object.

Starting from whatever you have

A photograph, a sketch on paper, a CAD model or a description over the phone are all workable starting points. What we need to establish early is the overall size, where it is going, whether it is indoors or out, what it has to carry and what it should look like when finished.

For anything that people will lean on, climb or sit on, or anything fixed above head height, the load matters and may need an engineer involved.

Drawings before steel

We produce a drawing for approval. This is where misunderstandings surface cheaply: the difference between what someone pictured and what they described is usually obvious on a drawing and invisible in a conversation.

Material choice is settled at this stage too, since mild steel, stainless and aluminium behave and cost very differently.

Making it

Profiles are plasma cut, folds are done on the brake press, holes are drilled and the assembly is welded and dressed. Doing all of this under one roof means a change during fabrication does not involve three subcontractors and two weeks.

Where a piece is visible, welds are ground back and the surface is prepared so the finish sits properly.

Finishing and installation

Powder coating in any RAL colour, hot dip galvanising for outdoor pieces, or a brushed finish on stainless. For outdoor work we detail drainage so water cannot sit inside the piece.

We deliver and install across Dublin and Leinster. Send photographs, sketches and rough dimensions and we will come back with a drawing and a price.

Want this priced for your own job? Send us your drawings or a photo and we will come back with a fixed price, usually within one working day.
